We had a crazy idea a couple of months back, to do the Dunwich Dynamo. A near 200km overnight bike ride from London Fields, Hackney to Dunwich in Suffolk. Lots of long climbs, rolling hills and a sea of white and red lights.
My son also wanted to tag along, being pulled along in a child trailer, by a road bike - must be mad.
I had also managed to convince one of my customers, who's been wanting to do this for a number of years, to tag along with us as well.
So despite having only completed a mere 30 miles in 2016, 10 of which was over 2 months ago, we trundled down to London; 3 crazy riders, 1 crazy child and 1 crazy support driver with all the necessaries to attend any possible repairs to do probably one of the most famous cycle rides in the UK.
It was an absolute blast and thoroughly enjoyable. And despite having to bail out between Finchingfield and Sudbury, as pulling the trailer killed my legs, I would highly recommend it to anyone.
I completed nigh on 100 miles of the route, over 50 of which was pulling a trailer with an 8 year old, and huge support from the hundreds of riders blasting by giving thumbs up and cheers.
I would like to give a thank you to Paul and Shaun for coming along with me and well done for completing the entire route. A thank you to Ashley for driving through the night as support, and a big thank you to Brian for lending the boot rack, it didn't miss a beat.
